I’ve been diving into AI tools recently, and Notebook LM caught my attention for its unique features. While researching for one of my upcoming blog posts, I was experimenting with Notebook LM’s ability to analyze multiple sources. I uploaded official websites, some of my favorite YouTube videos, and even my blog’s homepage to see how it handled my tone and content style. What I didn’t expect was stumbling upon its “Generate Podcast” button—and accidentally creating my first podcast with AI!
Discovering Notebook LM’s Podcast Feature
While navigating Notebook LM, I noticed the “Generate Podcast” option several times in the side menu. I ignored it the first four times, unsure of what it would do. But on my fifth glance, curiosity got the better of me. I clicked the button and let Notebook LM do its thing.
The process took a few minutes, and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. Would it create a polished podcast or something entirely unlistenable? Once it was done, I hit play—and, well, let’s just say I wasn’t prepared for what came next.
Listening to My AI-Generated Podcast
The podcast featured an animated male and female voice engaging in a back-and-forth conversation about my blog. It was both cringeworthy and hilarious! They spoke as though they were in awe of my site and referenced my blog posts in surprising ways. One highlight? When they described the Google AI Studio QuickStart guide I’d added as “dense”—a joke I wasn’t expecting but found oddly relatable.
Despite my initial skepticism, I was impressed by how Notebook LM structured the content. It referenced the materials I provided, mimicked some of my tone, and even attempted to inject humor. Sure, the delivery was robotic, but it got me thinking: this tool has potential.
The Result: My AI-Generated Podcast
I’m sharing the result of my experiment here—a short podcast created entirely by Notebook LM. It’s not perfect, but it’s an entertaining first step into AI-assisted podcasting.
